Player Notes: Cyril Sidlow was first-choice goalkeeper until the 1950-51 season. Russell Crossley initially replaced Sidlow but Ashcroft played the last part of the season in goal. Ashcroft was first-choice more or less the following season, but had to share first-team duties with Crossley in the 1952-53 season. Dave Underwood came unto the scene in late 1953 and Doug Rudham in 1954. Aschcroft still managed to play 15 games in his final season despite three goalkeepers battling for one position. |
