Nottingham Forest 0 - 1 Liverpool

Goals (Assists in brackets)

Notes

  • - It was believed that Roger Hunt had equalled Gordon Hodgson's league scoring record for Liverpool in this game, but a mistake in the accumulation of Hunt's scoring total meant that he was one goal off his record.

-The Guardian report online falsely reports it was Emlyn Hughes who set the goal up. It was Peter Thompson as described by the Echo and also Hunt's own account of the supposedly "historic" goal.
