  • Description of Burnley's goal in Liverpool Echo: "It was Latcham who chased a sudden long ball by Harris deep in his own half and it was Latcham who was in the way when Byrne tried to to hook it away from him. Lawrence had come out but whether he would have reached the ball if Byrne had not intervened is problematical. Any way the ball bobbed up off Byrne’s shin, struck the speeding Latcham on the knee and bounded away from Lawrence into the net (86 minutes)."
