It has been a pretty mixed start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign for Liverpool and manager Arne Slot and with us eleven games into the campaign we currently have six wins and five defeats to our name. For fans who like a flutter and use the likes of https://1xbet.ie/en for their match day betting, it would be interesting to see where the money is going for our final finishing place.
With well over £400 million spent in the summer transfer window as we brought in a host of new first team talents, in some ways it has not been that great a surprise to see them take a little bit of time to settle into life at Anfield and the teams cohesion has taken a hit as so many new players try to strike up understandings with each other. One deal that did not come off for us was speculation linking us with a move for Bournemouth talent Antoine Semenyo.
The 25 year old Ghanaian international attacker has started this campaign in bright form and he probably features highly in the fans picks for players they’d like to see in the next transfer window. He has already scored six times so far. But it is now being reported that he has asked to leave Bournemouth in the January transfer window following our earlier approach. Naturally this has led to speculation rumour mill claims that we are planning to go back in for him again in the New Year.
In fairness, this one seems unlikely given the attacking talent that we already boast as you would have to question how we would fit him in given the numbers we already have. Given his current form he would certainly command a transfer fee in excess of £50 million, and some are already suggesting that we had offered £70 million, and it feels unlikely that we would spend that amount in January, and that is without addressing the point that goalscoring so far this season has not really been an issue for us - our problems more stem from a lack of clean sheets and organisation at the back.
Right now, it would seem far more likely that should we dip into the market again it would be for defensive reinforcements to bolster our defensive options unless the individual form of a couple of players really starts to show improvement in the next few weeks. The claims currently doing the rounds also do not factor in that it is very unlikely that Bournemouth would be willing to sell such an important player in the middle of the season.
Should we have a real interest here, it makes far more sense on all fronts for any proposed move to take place at the end of the season as it would also allow the club to move on a few of those players that are not more instantly in Slot's thoughts as we better balance the books after our last splurge. Semenyo will likely be a top target for a number of sides come next summer, and with claims of a release fee being included in his current deal, we will simply have to see what that is set at and then whether or not anything does actually come of this as we edge ever closer to January and the window opening.
