- Liverpool have twice before benefited from two own-goals in one game. Danny Malloy scored two own-goals as Brighton's Bridcutt when Cardiff beat Liverpool 3-2 at Ninian Park on 22.08.1959. The same Malloy also scored an own goal when Liverpool played Cardiff two years earlier. The other instance when Liverpool's opposition scored two own-goals was when Everton were beaten 4-0 at Anfield on 04.03 1972, the goals were courtesy of Tommy Wright and John McLaughlin.
