Player profile
Roberts joined Liverpool after growing up at Bootle Junior Ordnance Corps. Although Roberts was part of Liverpool's squad for six different seasons, he only played in 58 League matches for the club and a large number of those, 25, came in 1932/33. He was mostly used as an inside-forward on both the left and right flank. He had been a regular when he got seriously injured in a cup-tie against Tranmere at the end of January 1934 and didn't return to action until in December that year. At the end of the 1934/35 season he had to undergo an operation on his left knee for cartilage trouble and only featured in eight games during his last two years at Liverpool.
