Player profile

The South African was a useful winger, who played on both flanks. His signing took place on the liner Capetown Castle at Southampton docks after arriving from Cape Town. He made four appearances in the 1946 FA Cup competition but the nine games he was selected for when the national leagues resumed in 1946/47 were not quite enough to qualify him for a League Championship medal. However, the two goals he scored right at the end of that marathon season turned out to be absolutely priceless. A second-half strike earned a point at Brentford on 17 May 1947 and in the next game he scored the late winner which saw off Arsenal.
