Player Profile
The South African was a useful winger, who played on both flanks. His signing took place on the liner Capetown Castle at Southampton docks after arriving from Cape Town. He made four appearances in the 1946 FA Cup competition but the nine games he was selected for when the national leagues resumed in 1946/47 were not quite enough to qualify him for a League Championship medal. However, he made an important impact at the end of that marathon season that turned out to be absolutely priceless. A second-half strike earned a point at Brentford on 17 May 1947 and in the next game he contributed to a late winner that saw off Arsenal. Priday met his old club, Liverpool, while at Blackburn, in the third round of the FA Cup on 7 January 1950. The game finished goalless but Priday got injured in the game and had to have a cartilage operation.
