Player profile
Versatile half-back McConnell, who could both play on the right and left side, made his debut on 18 December 1909 when the Reds travelled to Villa Park. He made 13 further appearances that season as Liverpool finished runners-up to champions Aston Villa. He made a further 29 first division appearances in 1910/11 and another eight in what turned out to be his third and final season at Anfield, 1911/12. In May 1912 he moved back to Scotland joining Aberdeen.
