Player profile
Half-back Heydon signed for Liverpool in January 1949 when he was 20-years-old after spending three years in Everton's reserves. He had to wait until October 1950 before making his first-team debut and played a total of 13 times in the League during that 1950/51 season mostly as a cover for left-half Phil Taylor. Heydon had an extended run from November onwards, missing only one of the 26 first division fixtures between then and the end of the 1951/52 season. Heydon was a regular for the first half of the 1952/53 season but then lost his place in the side. He was eventually transferred to third division south's Millwall in May 1953 and had a couple of years in London before returning to Merseyside to finish his playing career with Tranmere Rovers as well in the third tier of League football, becoming one of three players to have been on the books of all three major Merseyside clubs: Everton, Tranmere and Liverpool.
