Player Profile

Wardle arrived at Liverpool in the 1982/83 season in exchange for Steve Ogrizovic who went to Shrewsbury. Wardle was a big favourite at Shrewsbury and one game in particular against Luton Town is remembered by many of the club's fans. Wardle never got the opportunity he desired at Liverpool as Bruce Grobbelaar had a firm grip on the number one jersey. Unfortunately Wardle had to retire after just one season at Liverpool because of an eye injury. He was awarded a testimonial on 16 December 1986 when Liverpool faced Shrewsbury.
