Player Profile
A midfielder who joined from Wrexham in 2009. He made the bench against Middlesbrough in the league cup on 23 September 2014 and replaced Jordan Rossiter in the 79th minute. He scored a penalty in the historic shoot-out that ended 14-13 in Liverpool's favour. Although this was his only experience of first-team action during the 2014/15 season he did make the substitutes' bench on six more occasions, three times in the Premier League, twice in the FA Cup and once in the Europa League. Williams went on loan to Notts County from the end of March until the end of the season and played the full 90 minutes in seven League One matches before returning to his parent club. Williams was loaned to Swindon Town in the summer of 2015 in a deal that was meant to last a season but this was cut short after just ten games when he sustained a knee injury that ruled in out until the start of 2016-17. After failing to make any further breakthrough Williams looked set to leave Liverpool in the January 2017 window but proposed moves to Charlton and Milton Keynes Dons failed to materialise.
Williams spent the first half of 2017-18 on loan with Rochdale and went on to join the League One side on a permanent basis in the summer of 2018. After two seasons there he joined Blackpool, linking up again with his former academy coach Neil Critchley. He had a promising start at Bloomfield Road, but being sidelined with an elbow injury coincided with a good run of form by Blackpool and he as unable to get back in the side. At the end of the January transfer window he agreed a free transfer to Bolton Wanderers, who he helped to promotion from League Two. He held his own in League One, starting 39 of the 46 games as Bolton consolidated in mid table.
