Player profile

David Amoo could well have been an athlete, having finished fourth in the English Schools 100 metres at Birmingham in 2005. However he chose the football path and after scoring nine goals in 20 games for the Millwall under-18 team in the 2006/07 season Amoo joined Liverpool's Academy in July 2007. After being part of the squad that made it to the final of the 2009 FA Youth Cup the right-winger was promoted to Melwood that summer and signed a two year contract in 2010.

He made his debut for Liverpool's first team in the Europa League third qualifying round away to FK Rabotnicki on 29 July 2010, a game for which the squad was without players who had made it to the latter stages of that year's World Cup. The only other time he would feature was as an unused substitute for the League Cup tie with Northampton. When Kenny Dalglish arrived as manager the following January he didn't consider Amoo strong enough to challenge for a first-team place at Liverpool just yet and he was loaned out to MK Dons in League One and Hull City in the Championship for two months in the latter part of the season. He then spent the majority of 2011/12 on loan at League One side Bury where he played 27 League matches and scored four times. Among his goals was the winner against Preston at Gigg Lane in November 2011, which clearly impressed Preston North End who agreed to sign him following the expiry of his Liverpool contract on 1 June 2012.

After 15 substitute appearances and nine starts for Preston Amoo's one-year deal was terminated by mutual consent in January 2013. He didn't have to look long and far for another club and joined Tranmere Rovers, scoring on his debut against Crawley. This was to be his only goal for the club and after eleven appearances, most of them from the bench, he was released at the end of the season.

He moved to Carlisle United during the summer of 2013 and scored three times in his first two competitive matches for the Cumbrians at the start of the 2013/14 season. He appeared in 43 of their 46 League One matches (scoring 8 times) but Carlisle's relegation to League Two was confirmed after a 3-0 defeat at Wolverhampton on the last day of the regular season. He remained with them but was released in the summer of 2015 and moved north of the border to join Partick Thistle. He was a regular for the Glasgow side, scoring five goals in 37 games to help secure their top flight status and he was quick to agree a deal for another year at the end of the season.
